Reah

Reah is the fourth planet in the Eitan star system, and is the only one to currently support life. They say life had existed on the fifth planet, Reach, but it has long since cooled off past the point of possibly supporting the Yari, the people of Reah. Much is said of Reah cooling off as well, and its people look to that day with a sense of dread and inevitability.

Reah has two large ice caps which each extend down almost to the equator, which is covered in mostly water. The Yari are broken into two main tribes based on these large frozen land-mass poles, and many who live along the warmer band participate in competitive animosity.

The Yari have many superstitious beliefs; for example, many use the position of the six moons to divine the future. Sailors and explorers mocked this practice of lunar divination, as they know that the only true guides are the stars which are fixed and constant. Since then the Yari understanding of the galaxy as advanced and lunar divination has come to represent the ancient culture of the Yari, which many are trying to preserve.

The people themselves are large and stocky to withstand the cold temperature and fight against the large beasts who prey on the icy plains and burrow deep underground. The men all grow facial hair to warm their faces, and women grow theirs out long to wrap around their necks as additional insulation from the cold.

Moons
This planet has 6 moons:
Edo Edo is the first of the six moons of Reah and used in the the art of divination. Each of the moon has a different auspice, and often those superstitious or spiritual will select a moon as their personal guide. Edo represents the masculine (and Eddy, it's partner, the feminine). Together they are called the lovers and often orbit together. During the warmer days of the year they seperate a little more, but when the planet is cooler and further from Eitan, they huddle close, like the lovers they are named for. Edo is the Hunter of the sky, and many warriors and now soldiers will make superstitious predictions about battles based on the position of Edo in the sky.
Eddy Eddy is the secondof the six moons of Reah and used in the the art of divination. Each of the moon has a different auspice, and often those superstitious or spiritual will select a moon as their personal guide. Eddy represents the feminine (and Edo, it's partner, the masculine). Together they are called the lovers and often orbit together. During the warmer days of the year they seperate a little more, but when the planet is cooler and further from Eitan, they huddle close, like the lovers they are named for.
Hima Hima is the third moon of six that orbit Reah. Hima represents Chaos and Change, and is often associated with the sudden wind that sweep across the icy plains near the poles of the planet. One day a year Hima is the only moon visible int he sky for the entire day, and the Yari have called this the Day of Change, and mark it as the first of their new year. Hima is the only moon that is ever in the sky by itself, and is one of the largest of the moons. Ancient Yari myths circulate about the great winged beasts of destruction who inhabit the surface, and children were often told to behave or face the wrath of the Himas.
Rau Rau is the fourth of the six moons and is considered a calming, healing moon. It is said to hodl the auspice of health, childbirth, and a calm family. Since ancient life on Reah was infrequently calm, many in need of healing or aid would look to Rau. Healers and now doctors have long considered it one of their symbols, and for this reason a silver pendant in the shape of Rau is worn by all those in the medical field as an emblem of their profession.
Rye Rye is the fifth of the six moons that orbit Reah, and is traditionally associated with death and rebirth. Rye is often depicted in ancient myths as a great half-man half-beast who guards the afterlife, permitting in only those strong and brave enough. Those not allowed admittance are reborn into the body of beasts until they gain more courage. Only then can they try life again as a Yari and strive to win their way into the afterlife.
Kala Kala is the sixth of the six moons of Reah and is known as the child moon. She moves so fast acrosst he sky you can accuratelyd etermine the time of day by her position. She is smaller than the rest, to the naked eye and in truth, and is associated with luck, travelers, marriage, children and festivals. Legend has it that she is the offspring of Edo and Eddy, formed when they two lovers collided once upon a time.
